A Collared Aracari. Collared Aracaris customarily travel in groups of 3 - 10 individuals in the subcanopy and canopy. When flying between fruiting trees or calling they are easily detected, but they can be overlooked when quietly feeding or at the nest. Location: Casa Divina Lodge, Mindo, Ecuador. Casa Divina Lodge is located 3/4 mile outside the town of Mindo in the western lowlands of the Pichincha Province in Ecuador, about 2 hours northwest of Quito. Efrain Toapanta and Molly Brown are an Ecuadorian/American couple who offer comfortable and elegant accommodation in the middle of the cloudforest. Among their other duties, Molly is a great cook and Efrain is an excellent and enthusiastic bird watching guide. I would like to especially thank Efrain for his excellent services as a guide and bird spotter and for his assistance to identify the birds both in the field and taking additional time back at the lodge.
