Icelandic farmers roll up their harvested hay in white waterproof material. The bales are then stacked at their farms. Our guide Siggi told us that his grandfather was a farmer and he told his grandchildren that these bales were marshmallows left by the trolls. He said the farmers needed to collect the bales and stack them at the barns before the trolls came back to the fields to collect these goodies.
