The Goðafoss (Icelandic: waterfall of the gods) is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 40 feet over a width of 100 feet. Skjálfandafljót runs across a lava field which is approximately 7,000 years old that has been eroded into a wide canyon below the falls.
